Buccaneers Solidify QB Depth Behind Tom Brady With Latest Free Agent Re-Signing

Tom Brady was the only quarterback on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' roster at the start of NFL free agency. While he's been a model of durability and still playing at a high level, Tampa obviously needs a couple of backup options behind him to make sure a surprise injury doesn't derail their Super Bowl hopes.
The Bucs have re-signed one backup to start to fill out their QB depth behind Brady.

Tampa has brought back long-time quarterback Ryan Griffin to join their QB room. He entered the league in 2013 with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent before being waived in 2015. He then caught on with Tampa and has stuck around since.
Griffin has spent six seasons with the team but has only appeared in two games. He's thrown 4 total passes for the Buccaneers, all of which came during the 2019 campaign.
It's not likely that Tampa is done adding to its QB room, especially with Griffin not playing much of a role during his years with the team. Main 2020 backup Blaine Gabbert remains on the free-agent market and a reunion could make sense for both sides.
The Bucs may also address backup quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft. This Super Bowl-worthy roster has few true holes to fill and could take a chance on a signal-caller early on to groom a possible Brady successor.
