Broncos' Head Coaching Search Hits Another Potential Snag
The Denver Broncos are eager to find their next coach. On the heels of the Nathaniel Hackett failure, one that lasted less than a full year, Denver needs a new head coach. And their process has been made very public.
Denver was one of the NFL franchises pursuing former New Orleans Saints play caller Sean Payton with the most intensity, but a report over potential power struggles with the ownership perhaps put that possibility to an end. Now, they've got another top candidate in San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans.
But, there's another potential snag there.
According to a report from insider Ian Rapoport, the hiring of Ryans will be a true competition between Denver and the Houston Texans. Houston considers Ryans their top candidate and will meet with the franchise sometime next week after the NFC Championship. Rapoport even explains there is "mutual interest."
Houston's heavy interest will play a large factor in Denver's ability to obtain Ryans for his services. Only time will tell which franchise the defensive whiz wants to plan out his future with.
