It has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions for Denver Broncos fans in 2020. Starting with Von Miller, key injury after key injury has destroyed this promising team's playoff chances. Then, their Week 5 game against the New England Patriots was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak in New England.
If all that wasn't bad enough, Melvin Gordon was charged with a DUI over the bye, and just as Drew Lock and Phillip Lindsay are finally set to return to action.
Gordon's trial has been arraigned till mid-November, and he's listed as out this week due to "illness," not anything disciplinary, but the timing is definitely suspicious. It's unclear whether this absence is actually due to an illness, but it is reportedly not Covid-related as strep throat.
Either way, this latest hit is just another in a long list of body blows for the Broncos roster this season. Royce Freeman and the aforementioned Lindsay should be in line to handle carries for Denver this weekend in New England, and Gordon's future remains unclear.
