As the Denver Broncos prepare for a Week 13 clash with the divisional rival Kansas City Chiefs, there's a chance that they could be without one of their top rushers.

Broncos head coach Vic Fangio told reporters that Melvin Gordon (hip) would not be practicing on Thursday. This news is concerning considering the veteran rusher also missed Wednesday's practice. Now, Fangio is giving Gordon a "50-50" chance to play on Sunday.

Melvin Gordon Injury Update

Gordon's hip injury surfaced after Denver's Week 12 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, where he finished with 83 rushing yards on 17 carries.

There's no doubt that Gordon's presence will be missed if he's forced to sit out against the Chiefs. He leads the Broncos backfield in carries (135), rushing yards (605) and touchdowns (five) while also being effective in the passing game (22 receptions for 166 yards and 2 TDs).

If Gordon's out in Week 12, it will be Javonte Williams' first crack at being Denver's starting running back. The 21-year-old rookie has been impressive in his debut season, tallying 761 total yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on 144 touches. However, he's yet to play more than 58% of snaps so far.

Whether or not Gordon plays, the Broncos will need all the help they can get this week. They're currently 9.5-point road underdogs against the Chiefs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
