The Atlanta Braves rattled off their fourth consecutive win on Saturday, inching one step closer to the New York Mets for the NL East division lead. Now trailing by just 2.0 games, the Braves look to capitalize with a sweep over the Miami Marlins on Sunday.

The news kept getting better on Sunday when the club announced right-handed pitcher Jackson Stephens was officially reinstated from the 7-day injured list. Bryce Elder was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move.

Jackson Stephens Injury Update

Stephens suffered a scary injury back at the end of August. The 28-year-old reliever was struck in the head by a 90mph comebacker and ultimately taken to the hospital with a concussion.

Stephens has been activated and could see his first action since Aug. 26.

A reliable option for manager Brian Snitker's bullpen, Stephens owns a 3.89 ERA across 32 appearances and 44.0 innings pitched. The 28-year-old holds 20 games finished and a pair of saves.

Edler's optioning back to Triple-A is the only frustrating aspect of this news. A 23-year-old starting pitcher, Elder has performed quite well across a handful of stints at the big league level this season, pitching to a 3.67 ERA across six starts including 7.9 strikeouts per nine innings.

Stephens and the Braves entered Sunday's matchup against the Marlins as -260 moneyline favorites, according to MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
