If the Buffalo Bills make the right additions this offseason, this team will be a true, no-doubt Super Bowl contender. Coming off a loss in the AFC Championship Game, it's not like they're too far away right now.
If the Bills do want to take that next step, tight end is a position the team might need to upgrade. And the team is reportedly set doing jut that this offseason.
Here are three tight ends the Bills should target in free agency.
Buffalo Bills Free Agency
3. Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings released Kyle Rudolph, but he'd bounce back quickly if he landed in Buffalo. The 31-year-old would form a nice duo at the position with Dawson Knox, who is more of a pass-catcher while Rudolph excels as a blocker. Don't think of Rudolph as a one-trick pony though. He's a solid receiver and a great option in the red zone. He'd be a nice pick up for the Bills.
2. Hunter Henry, Los Angeles Chargers
At first glance, Hunter Henry doesn't look like a fit for the Bills. He's going to fetch a pretty big contract on the open market, and Buffalo only has about $5 million in available cap space. But the organization can free up a ton of room by releasing a few key veterans. That should allow the team to make a run at some big-name free agents. Henry is the best all-around tight end available, so if the Bills can make it work financially, he'd be a great addition.
1. Jonnu Smith, Tennessee Titans
Jonnu Smith has a higher ceiling than pretty much every tight end available. And at just 25 years old, there's plenty of reason to think he hasn't reached his potential yet. He's an athletic freak and a dominant force after the catch. It's not hard to imagine Brian Daboll scheming up ways to get an athlete like Smith involved in the offense. Another plus, he wouldn't cost nearly as much as Henry is projected to. Smith would be a huge get for this offense.
