Bengals Linked to Exciting Free-Agent Offensive Lineman

The Cincinnati Bengals have one of the youngest group of core players in the NFL and are looking to turn things around in 2021. One of their priorities this offseason is to surround quarterback Joe Burrow with protection to keep him upright and healthy.

Cincinnati was recently linked to an exciting free-agent offensive lineman in Trai Turner. The five-time Pro Bowl guard did have a down year in 2020 as he only played in nine games due to injuries. He was recently released by the Los Angeles Chargers and is ready to prove he still has what it takes to excel.

Turner makes for a perfect buy-low player for the Bengals given he is just 27 years old. He would immediately slide into a starting spot along an offensive line that struggled in Cincinnati last season. The Bengals gave up 3.0 sacks per game in 2020, which ranked as the sixth-highest mark in the NFL.

The Bengals have proven they are ready to compete as they have already made one signing along the line this season in veteran Riley Reiff. Plus, Turner is expected to be looking for a short-term deal right now. This is a move that wouldn't break the bank for the Bengals.

When it comes down to it, the Bengals' future has a lot to do with the play of Burrow and if he can lead this team. One way to ensure he can do that is to upgrade the protection in front of him. It's quickly becoming more and more likely that Turner is donning a Bengals uniform next season.
