Astros Reveal Updated Lance McCullers Rehab Schedule

The Houston Astros dominated in the first half of the season and currently lead the AL West by 9.0 games. Houston's performance is even more impressive considering they've been without stud starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. all year due to strained forearm.

He's making progress in his recovery, though, and the Astros have revealed an updated timeline for his rehab work.

Lance McCullers Injury Update

The former All-Star is set to make his first rehab start on Friday at Double-A Corpus Christi. He's scheduled for two innings of work as he begins to ramp up for a potential MLB return.

This news is sure to excite Astros fans. McCullers' recovery has lasted longer than expected, sidelining him since Oct. 12 of last year, when he threw four innings for Houston in Game 4 of the ALDS.

McCullers coming back at 100% would be a huge boost for this rotation in the second half. The Astros already rank second in team ERA while placing top 10 in most strikeouts and giving up the fewest hits in the majors.

If McCullers returns as the pitcher that finished seventh in AL Cy Young voting last season, Houston will be an even stronger contender this postseason. The Astros currently own the third-best World Series odds on FanDuel Spotsbook at +450.
