Antonio Gibson Injury Update Solidifies Week 17 Fantasy Outlook

Washington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson made his return in Week 16 after dealing with a toe injury, but the ailment has lingered and put his availability for Week 17 in jeopardy. However, Gibson is reportedly preparing to play against the Philadelphia Eagles, which solidifies his fantasy outlook.
Washington QB Alex Smith (calf) is expected to start and he should have all of his weapons. Source said RB Antonio Gibson (toe) WR Terry McLaurin (ankle) are both preparing to play. WFT should be close to full strength in a must-win game.

Antonio Gibson Fantasy Outlook
Despite the injury, Gibson was able to suit up in Week 16. He totaled 61 rushing yards and added 3 receptions (for 8 yards). With time off from practice this week to rest, he'll hopefully be close to full strength in a pivotal matchup against Philadelphia.
Gibson had emerged as Washington's lead back prior to his injury. From Weeks 7-12. he averaged 18.4 opportunities (15.0 rushes plus 3.4 targets) per game, turning those into 97.6 yards from scrimmage per contest before exiting Week 13's game early.
Fellow RB J.D. McKissic continues to see the bulk of receiving opportunities out of the backfield (8.5 targets per game over the last four weeks), but Gibson is clearly the team's preferred option on the ground, as evidenced by his 10 carries in his return compared to just four for McKissic in that same matchup.
Gibson will face an Eagles defense that is giving up 21.5 PPR fantasy points per game to opposing RBs this season (11th-fewest in the league).
However, Philly is allowing the ninth-most rushing yards per game (127.3), which provides Gibson with a great opportunity stretch his legs as a lead back once again.
