After signing a nine-year, $324 million contract with the New York Yankees in December 2019, it was clear that the club had high expectations for Gerrit Cole. Fortunately, the veteran right-handed pitcher is living up to those expectations this season to the point where he's favored to win the American League Cy Young Award.

Cole is FanDuel Sportsbook's favorite to win the AL Cy Young this year, sitting atop of the odds list at -170. The three-time All-Star is currently 8-3 through 14 starts on the 2021 MLB season, recording an 8-3 record and 2.31 ERA. He's also leading the league in both walks per nine innings (1.2) and strikeouts per win (9.75). If he can keep these numbers up, there's no reason why Cole and the Yankees can't have even more success this season.

One of Cole's closest competitors on FanDuel Sportsbook's list happens to be Chicago White Sox lefty Carlos Rodon at +500 odds. The 28-year-old is 6-2 on the season with a 1.89 ERA and 97 strikeouts through 66.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Lance Lynn — a fellow White Sox pitcher — is also listed at +500 odds. The one-time All-Star might have a 7-2 record, but he leads all American League starters with a 1.51 ERA.

Here's a look at the updated odds for the AL Cy Young race on FanDuel Sportsbook.
