If residents of Texas have been betting on their hometown teams this season, they're going toe-to-toe with all of the big oil tycoons in the state. That's because the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs have combined to go 19 games over .500 against the spread this season.

That's right – 69-50-1 ATS -- that's how the three teams from Texas have fared against the spread.

Leading the way are the Rockets, winners in 12 of their last 14 games (11-2-1 ATS) and currently sitting as the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference. James Harden, the current MVP-favorite according to FanDuel Sportsbook, has led the charge with 39.4 points (5.9 3-pointers), 6.4 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game over that stretch. Even more impressively, the Rockets have done a lot of this without Chris Paul and multiple other injuries along the way.

Since the calendar flipped to December, the Spurs have gone 14-5 (15-3-1 ATS) and currently sit as the No. 6 seed in the West. DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge have been a problematic duo for opposing teams over this stretch – DeRozan is averaging 21.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game, while Aldridge has posted 22.6 points (59.9 percent from the field), 6.3 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 0.8 steals per game.

Of these three teams, only the Mavericks aren't in the current playoff picture at 18-22, which is surprising considering their 15-4 record at home this season. It's the road that has been unkind, though, as the Mavs are 3-18 away from American Airlines Center. This season has been one of extreme stretches, as they recently had a string of five straight games without covering, followed by covering five in a row.

It's good to see the Western Conference get back on the good foot, and they mostly have the teams in the state of Texas to thank for that.
