As each NFL week goes by, the teams at the top here seem to solidify their spot more and more. But it gets tougher and tougher to rank the teams just outside the top five. While we have a new team sliding into the five spot this week, there's a tight race between the next grouping of teams with the likes of the Washington Redskins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers just missing out on the top five of the Week 8 Power Rankings.

Here are the teams that rank in the Top 5.

5. Carolina Panthers (4-2) >> Last Week: NR

After an impressive come-from-behind win over the defending Super Bowl champions, it's time to take notice that the Caroline Panthers are for real. Their two losses on the season came by seven points or less on the road, at Atlanta and at Washington, but road losses are forgivable. They're at home against a tough Ravens team in Week 8, which should be another good litmus test for Cam and his boys.

4. New Orleans Saints (5-1) >> Last Week: 4

Another team that won a tight game in Week 7 was the New Orleans Saints. Their 24-23 win over the Baltimore Ravens put Drew Brees into even more elite company, becoming only the third QB in NFL history to defeat all 32 teams. The Saints upcoming schedule includes home games against the Eagles and Rams, and road contests in Minnesota and Cincinnati, which could either push New Orleans up or off this list.

3. New England Patriots (5-2) >> Last Week: 2

After coming down to the final play and just one yard from potentially losing to the Chicago Bears, the Patriots fall one spot in our Power Rankings. Yes, they beat the now-No. 2 Chiefs head to head, but they weren't as impressive against their opponent this week as the Chiefs.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (6-1) >> Last Week: 3

The Chiefs overtake the Patriots after a dominant win over a now-4-3 Cincinnati Bengals team on Sunday. A total dismantling on Sunday Night Football, the Chiefs showed off every aspect of their offense and displayed a better-than-expected defense, giving up just 10 points. If the Chiefs attain home field advantage in the AFC, taking them down at Arrowhead will be a tough task.

1. Los Angeles Rams (7-0) >> Last Week: 1

What more can we say about the Rams? They're class of the league on offense and defense and it's starting to become more of an "if" rather than a "when" the team will lose their first game. Even if the Rams do lose, it'll be hard to drop them from the No. 1 spot.
