Power Rankings: 5 Best NFL Teams

Through two weeks of the NFL season, the hierarchy of the league is starting to take shape. While the bottom of the league looks like many thought it would, with the Bills and Cardinals leading the way, the top of the league has a couple of surprising teams sitting at 2-0 and a couple other Super Bowl favorites at 1-1.

Despite the Dolphins, Broncos and Bengals being undefeated, and the Vikings and Packers without a loss as well, they all finish just outside our top 5. Now that we have a two-game baseline to work off, let's assess the league based off what we've seen thus far.

5. Tie: Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) / New England Patriots (1-1)

The two teams that met in last season's Super Bowl both took an L in Week 2, but it's hard to overlook the talent on both of these rosters. The Eagles get Carson Wentz back this week, and the Pats just added wide receiver Josh Gordon to an already-stacked team. These two could easily end up back atop this list with a win or two over the next couple of weeks.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0)

The biggest surprise of the season so far, Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Bucs have been roasting opposing teams on the way to their 2-0 record. These aren't just any opposing teams either -- they put up 48 points on the New Orleans Saints and 27 on the aforementioned defending Super Bowl champion Eagles. We don't know if the Bucs are truly for real yet, but they deserve this spot heading into Week 3.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-0)

Despite a shaky start against the Giants in Week 1, the Jaguars make the top 3 thanks to a shellacking of the Patriots on Sunday. The Jags defense continues to be one of the best in the NFL, and when the offense plays like it did in Week 2, they're easily a Super Bowl contender.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)

The top AFC team at the moment, the Chiefs are an absolute terror with QB Patrick Mahomes at the helm. They're putting up 40 points a game and have shown they can score from any part of the field. The defense remains a bit shaky, allowing 65 points in two games, and while that could derail them down the line, Mahomes is too good right now not to have these guys in the No. 2 spot.

1. Los Angeles Rams (2-0)

The Los Angeles Rams just beat out the Kansas City Chiefs for the top spot, simply because their defense inspires a lot more confidence than KC. The Rams have played two bad teams to start the season, but have dominated both opponents the tune of 67-13. The offense appears to be right back where it left off in 2017 and the Rams are on the fast track for a one seed in the NFC.
