It has been tough to be a Chicago White Sox fan in recent seasons. The team has been mired in mediocrity and, of course, they are often playing second fiddle to the Chicago Cubs. However, the White Sox are a team of rich history that has had many tremendous players suit up for their franchise.

With that in mind, let's take a look at the four best infielders in White Sox history.

4. Paul Konerko, 1B

Paul Konerko is one of the best to ever do it, slating himself in as one of the best sluggers and fielders in White Sox history. He hit 432 home runs and had 1,383 RBI over his 18-year career with the Sox. Konerko also had a .995 fielding percentage over his career at first base and was named to six All-Star teams.

3. Luis Aparicio, SS

Luis Aparicio is historic for a number of different reasons. "Little Louie" became the first Venezuelan to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was most known for his base stealing and defensive skills. He totaled 318 stolen bases during his 10-year White Sox career, leading the league in seven of those seasons. Notably, Aparicio finished second in AL MVP voting in 1959 and was a Gold Glove winner in seven of his 10 seasons in Chicago.

2. Luke Appling, SS

The Hall of Famer has his No. 4 retired by the White Sox, and for good reason. Over his 20-year career with the team, Luke Appling totaled 2,749 hits (franchise record) and a career .310 batting average. He led the league in batting twice, with a .388 season (1936) and .328 season (1943). Appling was named to seven All-Star teams and is the franchise's all-time leader in Baseball Reference's Wins Above Replacement metric (WAR) for position players.

1. Frank Thomas, 1B/DH

Of course, "The Big Hurt" had to top this list. Frank Thomas is the best hitter in White Sox history, leading the franchise with 448 home runs, 1,465 RBI, 1,327 runs scored and a 74.9 offensive WAR. Over his career, he was a two-time AL MVP, five-time All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger winner.
