3 Teams That Should Trade Up for Jaguars' No. 1 Overall Pick

The 2022 NFL Draft is less than two months away and the Jacksonville Jaguars will kick things off with the first overall selection. The Jaguars could go a number of ways with the pick, however, Alabama's Evan Neal is the current favorite on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Although, there's also the chance that the Jaguars could trade down from the first overall pick. Jacksonville general manager Trent Baalke told reporters on Tuesday that the organization is open to moving the pick for the right price.

The potential haul that some teams could offer the Jaguars might just be too much to turn down. It might seem unlikely, but never say 'never' when it comes to the NFL.
Here's a look at three teams that should trade up for the Jaguars' No. 1 overall pick.
Teams that Should Trade for No. 1 Overall Pick
1. New York Giants
The New York Giants have been pretty bad for the last several years and need some serious help defensively. Although the Giants currently own picks No. 5 and No. 7, a defensive game-changer — like Aidan Hutchinson or Kayvon Thibodeaux — likely won't be available. While moving both picks might be too costly, New York could easily move Pick No. 5, along with both of its second-rounders (No. 36 and 67) to entice Jacksonville to move back four spots. The Giants can even offer future picks to sweeten the deal. Either way, they certainly have the capital to pull off a trade without the Jaguars having to move too far back.
2. Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are another team desperate to make serious changes after winning exactly five games for the third consecutive year. Although they have the sixth overall pick this year, it might not be enough to help them get to the next level. However, the Panthers can offer pick No. 6 to the Jaguars, along with 2023 draft picks since Carolina doesn't have another selection this year until the fourth round. While it may be a long shot, RB Christian McCaffrey has been involved in trade rumors this offseason. Injuries are a concern, but a healthy McCaffrey would give Jacksonville an offensive playmaker it desperately needs. Again, a trade for the veteran rusher is far from guaranteed, but the Panthers have the pieces to move up to No. 1 if the Jaguars are interested.
3. New York Jets
The New York Jets have the makings of a solid defensive unit in 2022, however, their pass-rush could use so improvements. Having the opportunity to draft either Hutchinson or Thibodeaux at No. 1 would help. The good news is that the Jets have a lot of pieces to entice the Jaguars. For starters, the Jets own the fourth and 10th overall picks at the 2022 NFL Draft. In addition to them, they also have two early second-rounds (No. 35 and 38) as well as five other selections this year. Out of all potential suitors, the Jets can certainly put together the most enticing packages for the Jaguars.
