3 Most Likely Trade Destinations for Nomar Mazara If Rangers Move Him Prior to July 31 Deadline

Texas Rangers' right fielder Nomar Mazara hasn't exactly lived up to the hype after a promising rookie season. Mazara finished fifth in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2016 after hitting 20 home runs and batting .266 on the year. Unfortunately, since that season, he hasn't hit more than 20 home runs nor cracked a season-long .260 batting average.

However, there is still interest among a few teams in dealing for Mazara before the July 31 MLB Trade Deadline. If that happens, here's a look at the three teams most likely to come after Mazara.

1. Chicago White Sox

The White Sox could use an upgrade in right field, as Ryan Cordell has hit only five home runs with a .658 OPS this season. Mazara hit 20 home runs in each of his first three seasons, and he's currently on pace to surpass that mark this year. Mazara has also hovered between a .739 and .745 season-long OPS in each of his four MLB seasons, currently touting a .745 OPS through 91 games played in 2019.

2. San Diego Padres

When the Padres traded for Manny Machado, some speculated that San Diego could be on its way to contending in the first year after that blockbuster free-agency acquisition. However, It hasn't worked out that way so far, as the Padres are still sitting six games under .500 in late July, and San Diego's eyes could already be set on the building for a potential run next year instead.

3. St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals will likely find themselves battling the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs for the NL Central crown down to the final stretch of the regular season. In order to better ensure they come out ahead of the pack in that race, St. Louis might need to add some power in their lineup to help make up for lost production with Marcell Ozuna on the IL.
