The Tokyo Games will mark the first time 3-on-3 basketball will be staged at the Olympics. The field of eight includes the American team as favorites to win, according to women's 3x3 basketball gold medal odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

China, Romania, Mongolia and the Russian Olympic Committee qualified for the Olympics based on the FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking on November 1, 2019. The other teams earned their berth into the Olympics through the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament that took place in Austria in May.

Each team consists of four players with three on the court and one substitute. The American team features four WNBA players - Stefanie Dolson, Allisha Gray, Kelsey Plum, Katie Lou Samuelson.

The women's 3 x 3 basketball event tips off at Aomi Urban Sports Park from July 24-28 with the pool stage being played from July 24-27. The knock-out games will start on July 27, and the semi-finals and the medal games are set for July 28.
