After getting blown out 9-4 in Game 2 of the American League Division Series, the Chicago White Sox find themselves in a 2-0 deficit to the Houston Astros. With the club facing elimination on Sunday, the White Sox have announced who'll be on the mound in Game 3.
White Sox Game 3 Starter
The White Sox announced on Saturday that right-handed pitcher Dylan Cease will start Game 3 in front of the hometown crowd in Chicago. The matchup will also be his first career postseason start.
Cease took on a bigger workload for the White Sox this season, leading all American League pitchers with 32 starts. He finished with a 13-7 record, 3.91 ERA and 1.249 WHIP with an AL-best 12.3 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.
Unfortunately, Cease hasn't had great success pitching against the Astros in the past. He's 0-3 with a 6.60 ERA in three career starts against Houston. However, this is the postseason where anything can happen, so regular season success (or a lack thereof) could mean nothing.
The White Sox will enter Sunday's Game 3 as the -122 favorite over the +104 underdog Astros, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
