The Chicago White Sox, to the dismay of thier fanbase, have had a pretty quiet offseason. Their one significant move was signing outfielder Andrew Benintendi to a five-year contract.

GM Rick Hahn did indicate in comments earlier this week that the team was not done yet making additions. While any major additions will have to come through the trade market since pretty much all of the big free agents have been signed.

The White Sox did make a move on Saturday that isn't going to make waves, but could prove to be a useful piece in 2023. The team signed outfielder Jake Marisnick to a minor-league contract.

Marisnick is a solid veteran who could provide the White Sox with experienced outfield depth. He can play all three outfield positions, and did so last season with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

While Marisnick's numbers won't jump off the stat sheet, slashing .234/.272/.390 in 2022, he value lies in his playoff experience and defensive versatility.

If he makes the White Sox roster this spring, he could bring a lot to the table for a young, talented White Sox team that lacks that true postseason experience.
