Week 11 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Lions vs Panthers

Two teams battling to stay in the NFC playoff hunt meet head-to-head in Week 11 as the Detroit Lions (4-5) go on the road to take on the Carolina Panthers (3-7). The Panthers head into this game as 1.5-point favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL betting odds, in a game full of impactful fantasy football players.
If you need help with your fantasy football lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for the Week 11 Lions-Panthers showdown.
T.J. Hockenson Fantasy
Start T.J. Hockenson, TE, Detroit Lions: T.J. Hockenson has become a reliable option for quarterback Matthew Stafford and this Lions offense in his second season in the NFL. Hockenson has seen an average of 7.0 targets over his past four games and now has a touchdown in five of his nine games this season. He draws a great matchup in Week 11 as the Panthers haven't been able to defend the tight end position all year. Carolina has given up 53 receptions to opposing tight ends this season (T-No. 29 in the NFL) for 548 yards (No. 29 in the NFL). Look for Hockenson to create some space in the middle of the field and be peppered with targets early and often in this game.
Mike Davis Fantasy
Start Mike Davis, RB, Carolina Panthers: With the news coming out that starting running back Christian McCaffrey will miss this game, backup Mike Davis will be in for a large workload once again. Davis is in the middle of a cold streak as he hasn't scored a touchdown or surpassed 70 rushing yards since Week 6, but he does have a stellar matchup this week. The Lions haven't been able to contain dual threat running backs all season. In fact, Detroit has given up the most touchdowns (18) and total fantasy points to opposing running backs in the NFL this year. If there was any matchup Davis could exploit and have a big day as a result, it is this one right here.
Danny Amendola Fantasy
Sit Danny Amendola, WR, Detroit Lions: Danny Amendola has been a quietly productive player this season for the Lions, catching 28 of 44 targets on the season for 411 yards. He had been a recent popular waiver wire pickup for teams that needed wide receiver help as he racked up at least 3 receptions and over 50 receiving yards in Weeks 7-9. However, he came back down to earth in Week 10, catching 3 passes for just 10 yards and hasn't reached the endzone all season. With the return of No. 1 receiver Kenny Golladay possibly coming this week, Amendola's upside is quickly disappearing as he becomes droppable in that situation.
Curtis Samuel Fantasy
Sit Curtis Samuel, WR, Carolina Panthers: Well, it seems that Curtis Samuel's hot streak finally came to an end in Week 10, as he posted just 12 total yards on 6 opportunities (3 receptions and 3 rushes). Samuel has become a gadget player within the Panthers' offense, which has led to a boom-or-bust situation in fantasy football. He has now finished with less than 52 receiving yards in all but one game this season and his scoring has become very dependent on touchdowns. This is a great matchup for Samuel on paper, but it is too risky to start him without knowing what his role in the offense will be this week.
