Before the 2020 NFL season, the Washington Football Team had only made the playoffs twice since 2008. However, they winded up shocking the league when they won the NFC East last season. Granted, the division was anything but spectacular and Washington did win it with a 7-9-0 recorded, but it still showed that the team was headed in the right direction.

Now, Washington will try to repeat history in 2021 as they gun for their second straight divisional title. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like FanDuel Sportsbook believes the hype just quite yet.

Looking at FanDuel Sportsbook's projected 2021 win totals, Washington's projection feels disrespectful to a team that surprised a lot of doubters by winning the NFC East last season.

Washington Win Total

FanDuel Sportsbook has set the over/under for Washington's win total at 8. With the NFL adding a 17th game to the schedule, it seems absurd to think that WFT will only win at least one more game than they did last season.

What's even more disrespectful is that FanDuel Sportsbook has set the Dallas Cowboys' projected win total at 9.5, indicating that they showed finish ahead of Washington. Yes, the Cowboys' 6-10-0 record in 2020 was mainly because of losing Dak Prescott early on in the season, but there's no guarantee that they'll bounce back and become instant divisional contenders.

Meanwhile, Washington has spent the offseason improving their team. With Alex Smith retiring, Ryan Fitzpatrick is the new signal-caller in town and many fans would consider him an upgrade. They added another pass-catching threat in Curtis Samuel, who used to be Washington No. 1 WR Terry McLaurin's teammate back in college.

Outside of free agency, Washington used the 2021 NFL Draft to fortify its lineup. They used the 19th overall pick to add Kentucky linebacker Jamin Davis to their defense. In the following round, they drafted Texas offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi at No. 51 to improve their o-line.

With all the moves they've made, it's clear that Washington will field a better team in 2021 than they did last season. They didn't regress in many areas, which is why the disrespect they've been getting is unwarranted.

Look for the Washington Football Team to prove the haters wrong next season.
