The Minnesota Vikings definitely took a step in the wrong direction last season after finishing with a 7-9 record and on the outside of the playoff field looking in. Regardless, this team has won 57 games dating back to 2015 and their recent projected win total from FanDuel Sportsbook is disrespectful.
Minnesota's projected win total is set at 8.5, which puts them right in the middle of the pack, according to NFL odds posted from FanDuel Sportsbook.
Minnesota Vikings Projected Win Total
Minnesota was a tale of two sides last year. The offense was one of the best in the entire NFL, scorching opposing defenses for nearly 393.3 yards per game last year. Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 4,000-plus yards for the fifth time in his past six seasons while Dalvin Cook had 1,500-plus yards on the ground and 16 touchdowns.
The defense, on the other hand, was a problem. The Vikings gave up 29.7 points per game, a number that ranked fourth worst amongst NFL defenses in 2020.
Minnesota was busy this offseason. They selected five defensive players in the 2021 NFL Draft in addition to a potential future star on the offensive line in Christian Darrisaw with their top pick. Minnesota also signed eight-time Pro-Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson in March.
Considering the strength of the Vikings' offense and some of the new faces on defense, 8.5 wins is disrespectful.
