In his first season back from a 2021 torn ACL, Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. put together yet another All-Star campaign. He picked up various minor ailments along the way but still managed to play in 119 games and smack 15 home runs.
Now fully healthy and attempting to stay in top form, Acuna Jr. opted to play a handful of games in the Venezuelan Winter League.
The La Guaira, Venezuela native made his winter league debut on Tuesday night and provided an instant moment of electricity. Check out the video below.
The three-time All-Star was given permission from the Braves to "appear in five games strictly as a DH," an obvious measure to ensure he stays healthy.
The original plan was for Acuna to make his Venezuelan League debut on Wednesday but Tiburones de La Guaira saw an opportunity they could not pass up. Up by four runs in the 8th inning, and with two runners on, Acuna stepped up as a pinch hitter.
He proceeded to smash a stoic no-doubt home run into dead center field. His Tiburones greeted him with excitement and adulation upon reaching home plate.
