Before the famous "Philly Special" ever happened in the 2018 Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots, there was already a history of a similar trick play that got less attention in 2015.
Tom Brady and the Patriots pull it off this time, and quite spectacularly.
Most fans may not remember this one, but years later the familiarity of this play is uncanny. Brady walks off from center to fake barking instructions to his teammates as the ball snaps directly to James White. The running back then begins an outside run before lateraling a reverse to Danny Amendola, who returns the ball to Brady on a backdoor passing route downfield.
Not sure anyone has ever seen Brady run so fast, or display so much athleticism in an body part besides his arm. It tricked the Eagles though, and you know they must have remembered this moment because they waited until a Super Bowl to return the favor with Nick Foles.
I'm not sure if there's ever been a trick play rivalry in any sport, but I'm ready to deem this the first if the spot is available. Philly versus New England, watch the ball, not the players!
