Russell Wilson is well known for being multitalented. He's an excellent pocket passer, a dynamic runner, and even a great baseball player, but we rarely get to discuss his receiving abilities. However, Wilson also has 4 receptions in his career, none of which were more exciting than his touchdown against the Eagles in 2016.
The 6-2-1 Seahawks hosted the 5-4 Eagles in Week 11 in a major NFC matchup. The Seahawks' defense dominated in that game, but the score was still just 16-7 midway through the third quarter. However, with the Seahawks in the red zone, Pete Carroll used some trickery to break the game wide open.
With the Eagles completely unaware, wide receiver Doug Baldwin took the toss from Wilson and set the play in motion, drawing the defense away from Wilson, who got open on a wheel route.
Considering Baldwin's complete lack of experience at quarterback, the play went quite well, as he hit Wilson with a near-perfect throw at the goal line.
The Seahawks would go on to win the game 26-15 and it remains Wilson's only touchdown catch of his career. Doug Baldwin's fantasy football owners got a treat as he collected 104 receiving yards to go along with a passing touchdown in that one.
Perhaps Doug Pederson and the Eagles would be inspired by this play and use it as the basis for the famous "Philly Special" that they used in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots a year later, in which Nick Foles caught a touchdown pass on a trick play.
