One of the all-time great stories in professional football is quarterback Doug Flutie. He took the typical “never give up” advice to heart, earning every little bit of success he had.

He checked off another box of things to accomplish in his final NFL game, when he executed a perfect drop kick to score an extra point.

Flutie had done a lot of things in his career to this point. He won the Heisman Trophy with Boston College, then started his professional playing career with the New Jersey Generals with the USFL. He played in the NFL for a few seasons, with the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots, then left to the CFL, where he won three Grey Cup MVP awards and six Most Outstanding Player awards.

His success in Canada would spark another NFL stint. He would get signed by the Buffalo Bills and be voted to the Pro Bowl and win a Comeback Player of the Year award. He would eventually play one final season with the Patriots, where he was able to make this kick, only adding to his legacy.

While the drop kick was nothing short of impressive, making Bill Belichick smile during a game may have been the greater feat here.
