VIDEO: First Look at Justin Fields at Bears Minicamp
By Larry Rupp

It is no secret that the Chicago Bears have struggled to find a franchise quarterback since the likes of Jay Cutler in the early 2010s. The Bears averaged 23.3 points and 228.4 passing yards per game last season, which had them ranked outside the top 20 teams in the NFL in both categories.
Chicago must've taken all of that into account when they made massive trade to acquire the No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Bears used that pick to select Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields and a lot of hype immediately surrounded the young signal-caller. Fans got their first look at Fields this past week at rookie minicamp.

Justin Fields Bears
No one truly knows if Fields will start Week 1 for Chicago given the team also signed veteran QB Andy Dalton earlier this offseason. However, Fields possesses the kind of raw athleticism and upside needed to be a star rookie right out of the gate.
All Fields did as a Buckeye for the last two seasons was win football games. He had a career record of 20-2 at Ohio State and accounted for 78 total touchdowns in those games. Overall, Fields completed 68.4 percent of his passes in college for 5,701 yards and also added 1,133 yards on the ground. His top dual-threat capabilities is what set him apart from the other quarterbacks in this draft class.
Chicago has gone through a number of subpar quarterbacks over the last few years, so the bar is set pretty low for Fields to succeed. He could jump over it with flying colors and even has the second-highest odds to take home the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award at +500, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Fields has an opportunity to turn some heads during what could be an exciting rookie season.
