It had been 56 days since Trey Mancini last played a baseball game at Camden Yards in Baltimore, MD. This was the place he called home for the first 7.5 years of his MLB career, and the place he battled and overcame cancer. Now a member of the Houston Astros, the former face of the Baltimore Orioles franchise returned home on Thursday night.

Mancini came to the plate for his first AB in the top of the second inning, and the response from the Baltimore crowd will send chills up your spine. Check out the video below.

It was a beautiful and respectful "welcome back" from the city of Baltimore. Showered with a rousing standing ovation, Mancini stepped out and tipped his helmet to the announced crowd of 16,417.

Mancini spoke to reporters about his mindset heading into this matchup.

"I rode the bus for the first time ever here. Got dropped off down here, rather than parking in the parking lot. "The fans and I here have such a good relationship, and they're always going to be a special part of my baseball experience."

The Orioles ended up victors in this emotional game, topping Houston by a score of 2-0 as they look to stay alive in the playoff hunt. Baltimore trails the Seattle Mariners by 4.0 games for the final AL Wild Card spot and holds an elimination number of 10.

As it stands, the Orioles hold +28000 odds to win the AL pennant, according to updated MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
