Vic Fangio Steals Coach From AFC Team for Dolphins Staff

It took the Miami Dolphins nearly a month, but the team finally found its next defensive coordinator in Vic Fangio. Hiring a veteran like Fangio gives Miami an experienced coaching mind, and someone who has strong connections throughout the league.

It turns out Fangio is tapping into his network for one of his first hires on his new staff.

Fangio has successfully swayed Los Angeles Chargers DC Renaldo Hill to become his defensive pass-game coordinator on the Dolphins. This is a reunion between the two, as Hill previously worked under Fangio when the latter was the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Hill giving up his elevated role as a defensive coordinator to join Fangio speaks volumes about their connection. It's also a win for Miami, who hurts a fellow AFC contender in the process.

The 44-year-old played 10 seasons in the NFL, appearing in a total of 141 games across stints with the Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Dolphins and Broncos. He racked up 19 interceptions during his career, so he's more than capable of helping the Dolphins' secondary get back on track after a down 2022 campaign.
