Vaughn Grissom Impressing Ronald Acuña Jr. With Hot MLB Start

The Atlanta Braves had high hopes when they promoted second baseman Vaughn Grissom from Double-A Mississippi last week. The good news is that he hasn't had any issue meeting those expectations. In fact, he's crushed them, helping the Braves go a perfect 6-0 since his call-up.
While Grissom's performance has gotten him some new fans, he's also earned the respect of Braves teammate Ronald Acuña Jr. The three-time MLB All-Star told reporters Monday night that he's impressed with how the rookie plays baseball, feeling "like he goes in there and doesn’t think too much."
#Braves' Acuña on Vaughn Grissom: “I love the way he plays, I really do. I feel like he goes in there and doesn’t think too much about it. He just plays the game.”

It's hard not to be impressed by what the former 2019 11th-round pick has brought to the table. It's a small sample size, but Grissom already has nine hits, two doubles, two home runs and four RBIs through 21 at-bats. Though he's been struck out five times, he's earned three walks and even has a stolen base.
Grissom's performance is even more impressive when you see his .429/.500/.810 slash line. He's already amassed a 0.6 WAR through six games, which would put him on pace for a 16.2 mark over a 162-game schedule.

Grissom has even been fielding balls well, tallying 12 assists while turning in three doubles plays with a perfecting fielding percentage. Again, it's a small sample size, but it's promising knowing that he's had a seamless transition to the MLB level.
Fellow 2B Ozzie Albies has been out of the lineup since June with a broken foot, though his rehab has been progressing in August. If Grissom keeps up his current pace, the Braves will have a tough decision to make once Albies returns.
