College football coaching legend Urban Meyer is in demand to fill one of the vacant head-coaching jobs around the NFL. The Jacksonville Jaguars are being aggressive in their pursuit of Meyer, although the Los Angeles Chargers have thrown their hat into the ring as well.
Meyer's jump to the next level was a possibility at first, but now it seems likely, as the former Ohio State Buckeyes and Florida Gators coach is assembling his potential staff.
Meyer has already been taking steps toward a possible NFL jump, and the fact that he's putting a staff together shows he's taking his candidacy seriously. It's the kind of preparations he'd make in anticipation of landing a gig.
The Jaguars seem like Meyer's likely next employer, with them still pursuing the head coach despite the massive price tag he'll likely command. The Chargers, though, can offer a loaded roster led by rookie phenom Justin Herbert, so Meyer has plenty of intriguing options in front of him.
And there's still the possibility that Meyer earns interest from the other teams with vacancies around the league. His name was recently linked to the New York Jets, who are in search of their next head coach after firing Adam Gase.
Meyer's time as an NFL head coach looks like it's close to starting any day now.
