Tyrique Stevenson Scouting Report

While his final season at Miami wasn't the most productive, Tyrique Stevenson still enjoyed a solid campaign. He finished with 25 total tackles (1.5 for a loss) and a pair of interceptions while tallying a career-high 7 defended passes. His efforts earned him third-team All-ACC honors for the first time in his career.

Stevenson is about average size compared to other cornerbacks, so physicality shouldn't be an issue at the next level. His long arms help him break up plays, proven by his 21 defended passes over four NCAA seasons. He also has solid speed, ensuring that he isn't beaten all that often.

Having said that, Stevenson's football IQ isn't the best. He'll occasionally bite on double moves and doesn't have the most reliable ball-tracking skills. Improved route-reading and more discipline with his hands will be needed if he hopes to find NFL success.

Tyrique Stevenson NFL Draft Prediction

Tyrique Stevenson is a prospect that does a lot of things right but also has issues that can't be ignored. If he can work on recognizing routes and tracking the ball, I see him getting starting minutes one day. Otherwise, it's going to be tough for him to find a consistent role.

The Minnesota Vikings are a team that could use a prospect like Stevenson. They finished in the bottom third of the NFL in completions, completion percentage and passing yards allowed last season. In other words, it wouldn't hurt the Vikings to take the chance.

It might take some time, but defensive coordinator Brian Flores could help mold Stevenson into the perfect fit for his defense. If Flores can even come close to unlocking the Miami native's potential, Minnesota's secondary will be better for it for years to come.

Prediction: Minnesota Vikings (Round 3, 87th overall)
