The weekend was nothing short of eventful for Minnesota Twins infielder/outfielder Royce Lewis. After getting called back up to the Majors for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals, the 22-year-old exited the contest during the fourth inning with a knee injury.

Initial testing has revealed that Lewis is suffering from a bone bruise in his knee. Even though the issue will result in him being placed on the 10-day injury reserved, Twins fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that it could've been much worse.

Royce Lewis Injury Update

Lewis' injury occurred during the third inning when he made a catch that resulted in him colliding with the outfield wall. He acknowledged that those types of plays were "dangerous" before the game even started, so it'll be interesting to see if he'll continue them going forward.

The Twins surprised people a few weeks ago when the optioned Lewis to Triple-A despite a hot start to the 2022 MLB season. The Aliso Viejo, CA native and top prospect has slashed .300/.317/.550 with two home runs and five RBIs in 40 at-bats in his first Major-League campaign.

One of the reasons why Lewis was called up again is that the Twins love his ability to play multiple infield and outfield positions. With injuries piling up as the season goes on, Minnesota needs the right-handed multi-threat to be as healthy as possible.

The Twins will likely know more information about a return timetable once the initial swelling in Lewis' knee goes down.

Twins vs Tigers Odds (May 30)

The Twins will begin life without Lewis when they visit the Detroit Tigers on Monday. Despite being the visiting team, FanDuel Sportsbook has Minnesota as the -156 moneyline favorite while Detroit sits at +132.
