It has been a whirlwind offseason already for Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Shortly after the season ended, the rookie faced anonymous criticism from his own teammates about his potential as the team's starter. And after Deshaun Watson's trade request, Tua's name has been brought up as a potential candidate to help pull off a deal.
Amid the chaos, Tagovailoa offered his opinion on his future with the Dolphins.
It's a messy situation that the young quarterback finds himself in, having to already field the possibility of getting sent to a new team after not even one full season worth of starts. Even if the storm passes and he remains in Miami, it's reasonable to wonder about the damage it has already done to his confidence.
Obviously, with the Dolphins just missing the playoffs last year, bringing in a star like Watson would elevate them to instant contenders. It still can't be easy for Tagovailoa to deal with that looming over his head.
Tagovailoa's struggles during the 2020 campaign also mean the team could select competition for him in the 2021 NFL Draft or bring in a veteran through free agency. So far, though, Tua is weathering trade rumors the best he can, which is all you can ask for from a young QB.
