The final PGA Tour event of the year takes place later this week when the TOUR Championship kicks off at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019.

The new format for the FedExCup Playoffs means that the leaderboard for the TOUR Championship represents the actual FedExCup standings. Given the new format, Justin Thomas will start this Thursday's TOUR Championship with a two-stroke lead and as the current betting favorite to win at +250, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The next two players in odds also follow the FedExCup standings, with Patrick Cantlay (+480) and Brooks Koepka (+500) in second and third, respectively.

The first switch we see between the order in the leaderboard and odds is Rory McIlroy, who comes in with the fourth-best odds to win this event at +900, despite starting the tournament fifth in the FedExCup standings behind Patrick Reed. Jon Rahm has also surpassed Reed in the odds at +1400, compared to Reed's +2000, while Rahm is sixth in the FedExCup standings. Reed has struggled at East Lake in the past, so that could be a sticking point there.

Dustin Johnson (+2700), Xander Schauffele (+3100), Adam Scott (+3300) and Hideki Matsuyama (+3300) round out the top-10 favorites to win the TOUR Championship by the odds.

The new format might limit the number of people with a chance to win the FedExCup heading into the final tournament, but it should also make for an exciting four days of golf.
