Grayson Rodriguez opened the 2022 MLB season as Baseball America's No. 6-ranked prospect and he's been living up to the hype all season long. In fact, the Baltimore Orioles' top prospect has found himself winning Triple-A Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
Baltimore Orioles News
Although he only saw one start over the last seven days, Rodriguez made it count during the Norfolk Tides' 5-2 victory over the Gwinnett Stripers on Friday. The 22-year-old went for seven full innings, striking out 10 batters while allowing two hits without a run or walk.
Rodriguez has now won each of his last three Triple-A starts and is 5-1 in 10 appearances this season. His 2.32 ERA is the best among Norfolk pitchers who've started at least four games while his 0.894 WHIP and 13.6 strikeouts per nine innings pitched have fans even more excited for his eventual MLB debut.
The Orioles already called up top catching prospect Adley Rutschman over a week ago and it might not be long before Rodriguez follows in his footsteps. MLB.com is listing his Major-League estimated time of arrival as somewhere during the 2022 season.
Grayson Rodriguez Rookie of the Year Odds
Although he's yet to debut with the Orioles, Rodriguez has decent odds to be one of the MLB's top rookies this year. FanDuel Sportsbook is giving the Houston, TX native +5500 odds (T-No. 9) to be named 2022 American League Rookie of the Year.
