Defensive scoring in fantasy football depends more on weekly matchups than maybe any other position. There are very few true, every-week starting options out there, and all but the absolute worst defenses can be worth using if they're in the right matchup.

Every week there are plenty of defenses worth starting that are available on the waiver wire, and it pays to be vigilant in keeping up with the best weekly plays at the position.

With that said, here are the top three fantasy football streaming defenses for Week 9, all of which are owned in fewer than 50 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues.

3. Carolina Panthers (49% Owned) vs. Tennessee Titans

It's looked like Ryan Tannehill has turned around the Tennessee Titans' offense over his two starts, but those were fairly soft matchups. The Titans are 4-point underdogs on the road this week in a game with a low 41.5-point over/under, per FanDuel Sportsbook, and the Carolina Panthers are likely to stop Tannehill's impressive run. He's been sacked nine times on 87 dropbacks so far this year, and the Panthers' 10.3 percent sack rate (No. 2 in the NFL) positions them perfectly to take advantage of that weakness in the Titans' passing game.

2. Philadelphia Eagles (40%) vs. Chicago Bears

Mitchell Trubisky and the Chicago Bears' offense struggled last week, scoring 16 points, turning the ball over twice and giving up four sacks. The Philadelphia Eagles are tied for 13th among defenses with 7.5 fantasy points per game, and as 5-point home favorites they shouldn't have much trouble producing well above that average against Chicago's reeling offense.

1. New York Jets (14% Owned) at Miami Dolphins

Despite trading Leonard Williams, the New York Jets are still favored on the road against the Miami Dolphins in what has been a dream matchup for fantasy defenses. Opposing defenses have averaged 15.3 fantasy points per game against the Dolphins, which is more than any defense except the historically great New England Patriots D is averaging in 2019. It's also more than any single team averaged in 2018. This matchup is enough to vault any unit into the streaming conversation, and the Jets sit fifth at the position in our Week 9 fantasy football rankings.
