The Washington Football Team will be looking to repeat as NFC East champions next season and are led by a new starting quarterback in Ryan Fitzpatrick. Well, it seems like the veteran signal-caller is already developing a connection with No. 1 wide receiver Terry McLaurin at OTAs.
WFT News: McLaurin-Fitzpatrick Connection Developing at OTAs
If these two can build a relationship, they could become one of the best deep ball connections in the NFL. In fact, Fitzpatrick is known for being a QB who likes to sling it (11.4 yards per completion) and McLaurin has hauled in a pass of at least 68 yards in each of his first two NFL seasons.
This offense could use a boost given it averaged just 21.1 points per game during the 2020 season. This is a great first step and could allow the team to create a daunting pass attack. Washington also added free agent WR Curtis Samuel this offseason. He totaled 1,051 yards from scrimmage on 118 touches last year.
McLaurin has quickly become one of the best young receivers in the game and will be hoping to build off a great 2020 season. He caught 87 of his 134 targets for 1,118 yards and 4 touchdowns. The 25-year-old pass-catcher also led the team averaging 74.5 receiving yards per game and could see upwards of 125+ targets again in 2021.
Washington will aim to exceed expectations in the fall as the team has odds set at +156 to make the playoffs and odds set at +260 to win the division, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
