There was a point last year where it looked like T.Y. Hilton's best days were behind him. He had missed six games in 2019 and got off to a pretty poor start in 2020, failing to record a single 70-yard performance over his first nine games.
He proved a lot of people wrong down the stretch, though, averaging 72.5 receiving yards per game over his final six regular-season showings. For context, that would've put him on a 16-game pace to record a 1,160-yard season.
The FIU product clearly still has a ton left in the tank, so here are the three best remaining fits for the 31-year-old in free agency.
T.Y. Hilton Free Agency
3. Indianapolis Colts
At this point, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Hilton back with the Indianapolis Colts. The team has a pretty clear hole at the WR1 position, and it's hard to see how any of the free-agent wideouts would be upgrades over the veteran. Plus, Indianapolis has the third-most remaining cap space, per Spotrac, so he might not be getting significantly better offers from anyone else.
2. Los Angeles Chargers
Beyond Mike Williams and Keenan Allen, the Los Angeles Chargers don't have many proven wide receivers. Los Angeles also has more than enough cap space to put together a competitive offer for Hilton. It'd be really fun to watch the 31-year-old play with an arm talent like Justin Herbert, especially after dealing with a late-stage Philip Rivers in 2021. Having Hilton and Williams attracting attention downfield could also open up a ton of space for Allen over the middle. This would be a great pickup for LA.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
Somewhat surprisingly, the Kansas City Chiefs have been pretty active in the WR market. They made an aggressive offer for JuJu Smith-Schuster's services, but he ended up re-upping with the Pittsburgh Steelers. If the Chiefs are dead set on adding another playmaker at WR, Hilton looks like their best bet. He'd be an excellent fit in a KC offense that prioritizes speed at the position, and he's probably the best free-agent wideout left on the market. This move would make an already-elite offense even scarier.
