Steelers Have Officially Given Up on Former Second-Round Pick
By Zach Brunner

The Pittsburgh Steelers got a big win in Week 8 over the Baltimore Ravens. This means that they continue to be the only undefeated left in the league, with a 7-0 record. Everything seems to be going right in the Steelers organization. However, one player may think differently.
It appears the Steelers have officially given up on a former second-round pick at wide receiver after James Washington ran just 11 percent of team routes.
#Steelers Week 8 WR route rates:
— Jared Smola (@SmolaDS) November 2, 2020
Diontae Johnson - 89%
JuJu Smith-Schuster - 86%
Chase Claypool - 84%
Ray-Ray McCloud - 54%
James Washington - 11%
The Steelers may be the best team in the league at finding wide receiver talent in the draft. Many figured Washington would be another one on that long list. While the talent may be there, it's clear that they have other talent stacked ahead of him.
Aside from running just 11 percent of routes, he saw just 19 percent of the snaps, following 23 percent the week prior. It is now back-to-back weeks that Washington has seen one target with no receptions. It looks like the Steelers are over Washington.
While the Steelers are clearly contenders, looking to buy at the NFL trade deadline, it would be interesting to see if another team comes calling about Washington.
