Seahawks Fans Aren't Going to Like Their 2020 Super Bowl Odds
By michael obermuller
The Seattle Seahawks proved last season that so long as they have Russell Wilson at quarterback, they'll be legitimate contenders. However, as we head toward 2020, the Seahawks odds to win Super Bowl LV are listed at just +2100, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
That gives Seattle just the sixth-best odds in the NFC to win the Super Bowl, which seems a little low considering the team was a last-second score away from a first-round bye in 2019.
It's a bit shocking to see Seattle ranked behind the Dallas Cowboys (+1700) and Philadelphia Eagles (+1900) in the odds. Dallas was 8-8 last season and lost key contributors on both sides of the ball. Philadelphia was 9-7 and is coming off a puzzling offseason as well. Seattle's offseason was far from perfect, but putting them behind two middling teams seems like a bit of an overreaction.
There's plenty of reason to believe the Seahawks can improve upon last season's 11-5 campaign. The team was ravaged by injuries last year, particularly in the running game, losing Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny for significant chunks of the season. With both hopefully healthy in 2020, that unit could be much improved.
Even if the team has to lean a bit more on the passing game, though, that certainly won't be a problem. Despite only throwing the ball 516 times (the same amount as Mitchell Trubisky), Wilson had 31 touchdowns (No. 3 in the NFL), threw for 4,110 yards (No. 6) and had a passer rating of 106.3 (No. 5).
With some development from second-year wideout DK Metcalf, the passing game could be really difficult to stop next season.
Entering the 2020 campaign, there's a lot to like about this Seahawks team. If a few things break their way, they should be much better than the sixth-best team in the NFC.
