Sam Darnold Trade Value Revealed

With Sam Darnold likely to move on from the New York Jets this offseason, it's unclear what he could command in a trade. Darnold's potential could cause a team to overpay, but his actual NFL results may tame any suitor's offer.
The trade value for Darnold has been floated by Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

According to Breer, Darnold's value could be "something north" of what the Arizona Cardinals received in the Josh Rosen trade in 2019, which netted them a second- and fifth-round pick. Despite having a mediocre rookie season, Rosen was still able to command two draft picks, so that sets a precedent for what the Jets can hope to land in a Darnold deal.
Rosen also only had one season of NFL reps at the point of his trade, while Darnold is entering his fourth year. He's at least somewhat of a known quantity, but at almost 24 years old he still has the potential to be a late bloomer.
With several teams around the league needing a new starting QB or a shakeup at the position, it's no wonder Darnold has drawn interest. As the new league year starts and the draft approaches, he could be the next domino to fall.
