Saints Interview Questionable Candidate for Offensive Coordinator Opening

The New Orleans Saints have tabbed Dennis Allen as Sean Payton's successor following the latter's retirement. The new Saints head coach will now be tasked with filling out his coaching staff before really kicking the offseason into high gear.
Allen is currently conducting interviews for his coordinator openings, and a questionable name appears to be in the running for OC.

Also, still seems like a possibility that Pete Carmichael could maybe end up moving back into that role for the Saints.https://t.co/k5bN5NhJoE
Jay Gruden Saints
Former NFL head coach Jay Gruden was brought in to interview for offensive coordinator, according to Matt Zenitz of On3Sports. Gruden's recent track record doesn't inspire much confidence.
After rising up the ranks as an OC with the Cincinnati Bengals, Gruden was hired as Washington's head coach in 2014. Gruden amassed an overall record of 35-49-1 in five full seasons and part of a sixth campaign. He was fired after going 0-5 to start the 2019 season.
Gruden then latched on as OC of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020. That team went 1-15 and he was fired, along with the rest of the coaching staff.
Since 2014, Gruden's teams have ranked in the top 10 for points just once (2015) and in the top 10 for yards just once (2016). In fact, his last three seasons as an HC/OC have seen bottom-five finishes in both yards and points.
Simply put, Gruden doesn't appear to be the offensive genius New Orleans could use post-Payton. And they certainly need someone who can elevate that area after finishing No. 28 in yards and No. 19 in points last year.
Hopefully Allen can find the right person to lead this unit in 2022.
