3 CBs the Saints Can Target in Round 1 of NFL Draft
By Max Staley

The New Orleans Saints have one of the most complete rosters in the NFL. But that's not to say it's without flaws. New Orleans can still stand to upgrade at quarterback, and it could use another cornerback to pair with Marshon Lattimore.
While head coach Sean Payton appears to have confidence in Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill to handle the former, he revealed that the team could be looking for outside help to address the latter.
Sean Payton said the Saints don’t consider the QB position a “must” in this year’s draft since they feel like they have two good candidates in Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston. But he did identify CB as a position that must be addressed at some point before the start of the season. pic.twitter.com/G6jRJumGCK

With that in mind, here are three cornerbacks the Saints can target in Round 1 of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Saints Draft Rumors
3. Greg Newsome II, Northwestern
Greg Newsome showed out in his final season at Northwestern, earning a 79.8 grade from ProFootballFocus while holding opposing QBs to a 31.7 passer rating when targeted. Newsome is something of a one-year wonder, but that season was so impressive that he's likely established himself as a late-first round pick. Though he doesn't have many elite physical traits, Newsome's remarkably quick feet could make him a very versatile option at the next level. That should make him a nice pairing with Lattimore.
2. Asante Samuel Jr., Florida State
The son of four-time Pro Bowl CB Asante Samuel, Asante Samuel Jr. looks poised for a great career of his own. In three seasons at Florida State, Samuel racked up 97 tackles, 29 passes defended and 4 interceptions. He's a bit undersized, but he's projected to be a late-first or early-second round pick. He'd be a nice fit alongside Lattimore.
1. Caleb Farley, Virginia Tech
Were it not for a troubling back injury, Caleb Farley would probably be the consensus top CB in this class. But that same injury could cause the Virginia Tech corner to slip to the Saints at No. 28. He'd be well worth the risk at that spot. Farley is a 6-foot-2 CB who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.28 seconds. He's even drawn some comparisons to Jalen Ramsey, and players like that typically aren't available at the backend of the first round. If he's still on the board, it's hard to imagine New Orleans passing him up.
