By Larry Rupp

Pitching injuries have seemed to run rampant throughout the 2021 MLB this season and it is no different for the Kansas City Royals. The team recently announced that two members of the starting rotation in Danny Duffy and Brady Singer are being placed on the 10-day injured list.

Royals Injury Updates
It's never easy to lose starting pitcher's in today's game. Kansas City revealed that Duffy has suffered a left flexor strain, while Singer has been dealing with some right shoulder fatigue. Fortunately, it seems like both pitchers will be able to return some time this season, but no timetables have been set.
Duffy has spent 11 seasons with the Royals and owns a 4-3 record across 12 starts in 2021. Overall, he has pitched to a 2.51 ERA and 1.213 WHIP through a total of 61.0 innings pitched. The 32-year-old pitcher has also racked up 65 strikeouts and allowed just 22 walks this year.
Singer was coming off his worst effort of the season allowing 7 earned runs in just 2.0 innings of work against the Baltimore Orioles before ending up on the IL. The second-year pro has been up-and-down all year posting a 5.13 ERA and 1.551 WHIP across a total of 87.2 innings pitched (19 starts).
All things considered, the Royals will have to hope someone steps up to take over a spot in the rotation. Kansas City remains a long shot to make the playoffs this season and have the third-worst odds to win the American League at +30000, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
