Ron Rivera Responds to Mike McCarthy's Bold Win Guarantee

Trash talk is one of the biggest parts of sports, even when coaches are concerned. There was an example of that earlier this week when Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Thursday that he's confident that his team is "going to win" against the Washington Football Team in Week 14.
Well, Washington head coach Ron Rivera has since replied to McCarthy's statements. He told reporters Friday that even though the remarks were not "important," he considers the opposing coach's words as "a big mistake."

Rivera added McCarthy's words were a mistake because he turns the spotlight on him rather than the Cowboys players. The Washington coach said that his team is just focused on playing football this Sunday.
"That's why to me, you don't do those things. What you do is you focus in, you get ready, and you play football."

McCarthy was given the chance to reply to Rivera's comments on Friday, however, he said that his counterpart's response was "irrelevant."
Needless to say, there won't be any shortage of bad blood between the two NFC East rivals when they clash on Sunday. They'll also meet again in Week 16, so it'll be interesting to see if the tension increases from now until then.
Keeping that in mind, FanDuel Sportsbook is currently listing the Cowboys as 4.5-point favorites over Washington for this weekend's clash. Only time will tell if McCarthy and the squad can back up his initial statement.
