The Colorado Rockies are off to a rough start in 2021 as the team currently sits in last place in the National League West division with a 9-14 record. To make matters worse, the Rockies made headlines this past week when their GM Jeff Bridich stepped down from his role.

The search is now on for a new GM to come in and take over for the team. There are numerous candidates involved in the Colorado front office, both currently and from the past. However, the Rockies may have their eyes set on one executive from the Chicago Cubs in Jason McLeod.

Jason McLeod Rockies Rumors

McLeod has been an executive with the Cubs for almost a decade now and has originally was hired to oversee amateur scouting and now handles player development. He was recently named to his current role as the team's Senior Vice President of Player Personnel towards the end of the 2019 season.

This wouldn't be the first time a team has taken a longtime executive from another squad and promoted him to GM, but it doesn't happen that often. Someone from within the organization is almost always given a shot to run the front office.

All things considered, it'll be interesting to see if the Rockies are able to poach McLeod from the Cubs or not. There is no question that this Colorado team need to start turning things around as they haven made it to the postseason just twice since 2010.
