The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made more headlines than any other NFL franchise this offseason. They were able to lure Tom Brady away from the New England Patriots, then Brady and the front office are able to coax Rob Gronkowski out of retirement. Things are definitely heating up down in Tampa, but is all the hype justified?

In terms of Gronk, the tight end lost a ton of weight during his one-year hiatus from the league. Right now, no one knows how effective the former four-time First Team All-Pro player will be once he laces up the cleats again. All we know is that he is working to regain his previous monstrous physique.

Assuming Gronkowski can reach his playing weight, will the year off actually rejuvenate the injury-plagued tight end? Or will the youth of the league pass him by after the time on the pine?

In his final season with the Patriots in 2018, Gronk caught 47 passes for 682 yards and three touchdowns. He added 191 receiving yards in the playoffs, leading up to a third Super Bowl ring. It was not the tight end's best season by a long shot, as Gronkowski played in just 13 regular season games and all three playoff bouts.

Can Gronkowski recapture the glory of years past with Tom Brady throwing him the football? Only time will tell. For now, Gronk will just keep crushing those protein shakes.
