Though the 34-year-old hasn't played in a game since 2016, he's left the door open for a return, and this step could put him on the verge of an official comeback.

It's now been revealed how Kaepernick performed for Las Vegas' brass on Wednesday.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport relayed that he's heard Kaepernick's open showcase "went well and he impressed." Rapoport added "the door is open" for the QB, which seems to imply he has a real shot at landing some kind of deal with the Raiders.

This insight shows that Kaepernick's comeback bid is very real. The ex-San Francisco 49ers QB has maintained his playing shape in hopes of taking the field again for another team, and it appears he could make that dream a reality if Las Vegas decides to give him a shot.

Kaepernick would join the likes of Nick Mullens, Jarrett Stidham and Chase Garbers as quarterbacks vying for backup duties behind starter Derek Carr if he's signed.
