It's been almost a month since the Cincinnati Reds have had their slugging 1B/3B Mike Moustakas in the lineup due to a right heel contusion. All things looked good heading into the week as Moustakas had begun a rehab assignment with the Reds Triple-A affiliate. The Reds even considered it a possibility to see "Moose" back in the lineup before the end of their current nine-game road trip.

Cincinnati caught a tough break on Tuesday as manager David Bell told reporters that Moustakas was headed back to Cincinnati to be re-examined after feeling soreness in his foot and heel.

This is definitely not the update that Reds fans were hoping for. While Moustakas isn't quite the same slugger he once was, he's still recorded a slugging percentage over .450 during his two years in Cincinnati. Currently, in 28 games, Moustakas owns a .241/.337/.437 slash line with 4 home runs and 13 RBIs.

The Reds are back over .500 at 34-31 this year after an 8-2 stretch in their last 10 games. Still, this team sits 3.0 games back in the NL Central and would like the return of their slugging infielder as soon as possible. Cincinnati owns just +1200 odds to win the division, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
